As a full-service dental clinic, we offer a range of services to help you achieve your best and brightest smile. To learn more, take a look at a few of our frequent patient questions on this page, or call today to schedule your appointment.
Q: What's involved in my first visit?
A: A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by our registered dental hygienists and dentist at your initial visit. This includes detailed charting and any necessary x-rays. More importantly, we’ll educate you about your oral health, tailoring a treatment that fits your needs best.
Q: Why should I return for a check-up exam or follow-up visit?
A: At regular check-up exams, we will include examination of existing restorations, areas of dental concerns, cavities, gum disease evaluation, review of new diagnostic x-rays, and oral cancer screening.
Q: Why do I need x-rays?
A: An x-ray is essential for detecting decay, tumours, cysts, and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions. Remember, our eyes and clinical tests can only reveal so much. Check out our Did You Know page for more information.
Q: What is periodontal disease?
A: Periodontal disease is more commonly known as gum disease or gingivitis. This disease occurs when bacteria from plaque colonize on the gum tissue, causing inflammation and irritation. The flare up can in turn produce a chronic inflammatory response in the body. The body will then begin to systematically destroy gum and bone tissue. Bacteria can then eventually enter the bloodstream and infect other parts of the body.
Q: What does my dental insurance cover?
A: Dental insurance is a contract between you and your employer. With hundreds of insurance programs, it’s difficult for us to keep track. Please bring your insurance coverage booklet to your appointment if you have one, we will be happy to assist you. Quite often this information is also available online to the subscribers only. Pending your treatment plan, we are more than happy to submit an estimate on your behalf. Please remember, insurance companies do not inform us if there’s a change in your coverage, thus please keep us updated.
